The "Dirt" On Your Devices

Believe it or not, the vast majority of your personal devices are harboring dirty content, and we don't mean what you're thinking.

Cell phones, keyboards and iPods are literally coated in germs that can make you sick. Not everyone is an obsessive cleaner, but even the dirtiest of people have to be alarmed at the fact that computer keyboards are actually 5 times more germ laden than a toilet seat...and that's not because toilet seats are clean.

Germs, viruses and bacteria lurk around every corner of your home and office. We at Warden's are prepared with 3,000 different cleaning products, such as screen wipes and canned air, to help you combat those pesky germs!

Mobile Tech Tip

Wardens Office - Thursday, January 31, 2013

Mobile technology is changing the way companies do business. According to a great article on Mobile Iron.com:

"I&O managers worldwide are significantly altering their mobile computing strategies. Why? Because the prevalence of consumer smartphones, maturing enterprise-class mobile applications, the upcoming wave of slates and tablets that will be folded into the mix, and empowered workers are all driving I&O to change how it supports mobile devices. I&O managers must meet the needs of workers while continuing to ensure that corporate data is properly managed and secured across all devices, regardless of who owns the hardware.

Over the past six months, Forrester assisted 121 enterprise clients with developing or redefining their mobile policy in an effort to meet these changing requirements. Forrester has identified 15 best practices that I&O managers should use when crafting their new mobile policies. These practices keep corporate data secure, employees productive and happy, and costs down, while selectively embracing the consumerization of IT where appropriate."

How To Make Your Office Greener

Wardens Office - Wednesday, December 26, 2012

You don't have to change the world all at once...every small step makes a difference! Use this handy step-by-step checklist to start making your office greener:

Choose Eco-Friendly Supplies
Most of your everyday essentials are available in recycled options. Order recycled copy paper, file folders, tape, adhesive notes, pens, and more!

Reuse and Recycle
Provide recycling containers near printers and copiers and in your breakrooms, and encourage your co-workers to recycle paper, bottles, and cans.

Turn Off Lights and Equipment
Save energy and reduce your electric bill by turning off lights and equipment when not in use. Be sure computers, printers, and other machines are powered down on nights and weekends...or whenever they're not being used for a long period of time.

Clean...Green
Look for non-toxic and irritant-free cleaning products. They'll save energy and money!

By making your workplace greener, you're leaving a lighter ecological footprint. Going green helps to create a healthier and more productive work environment too, which helps boost your company's bottomline...so it's a win for everyone!

Prevent Office Contamination During Cold and Flu Season!

Wardens Office - Monday, December 10, 2012

We only wish it were that simple! The typical Cold and Flu Season (November-April) is already here, and while you cannot prevent the spread of office germs, there are steps you can take to at least minimize your chance of being infected while maximizing your co-workers' well-being at the same time.

Most Cold and Flu Viruses are spread indoors — i.e., the office. Within the workplace, these germs are typically passed person to person or surface to person. Of all the numerous things you can do to keep yourself healthy this time of year, the most basic way is to wash your hands frequently throughout your work day, with both soap and water and alcohol-gel or foam sanitizer as well.

Potentially contaminated surfaces include:

Handshakes, doorknobs and handles, printer/copier machine controls, as well as common area telephones and even the break room coffee pot handle!

While we cannot guarantee you will not contract a cold or the flu this year, Warden's can provide you and your co-workers many of the products you'll want or need this season. We have hand sanitizer, paper towels, disinfectant, and did you know we even have a washable keyboard? And if the cold symptoms do appear, we even have tissues for that cough or sneeze.

Help your co-workers enjoy the holidays with their families. Practice Cold and Flue prevention in the workplace!

Here's wishing you a safe and healthy New Year!

Keep your computer from catching a virus this Holiday Season!

Wardens Office - Monday, December 10, 2012

Keep your computer healthy and virus-free by being aware of the many holiday scams that increase during this heavy shipping and mailing season. There are a variety of "tracking" or "pick-up" e-mails that may appear in your e-mail inbox. Do not be fooled — clicking to open one of these e-mails will take you to a computer virus. You may even receive e-mails from "trusted" sources like UPS or FedEx. Do not be tricked into opening these e-mails either; the real UPS and FedEx do not send tracking updates through e-mail. Each of these major shippers has a tracking program available on their respective website, not through e-mail. Also prevalent during this busy season are online holiday cards. Although there are many legitimate online card companies, the illegitimate sites are also out there. If you receive a greeting card or postcard in your e-mail inbox, wait to open any attachments until you can verify that the e-mail is truly from the sender.

This year protect both yourself and your computer from nasty viruses!

Gratitude...

Wardens Office - Wednesday, November 14, 2012

An attitude that can be cultivated in whatever circumstance you might find yourself. It's not about good things happening to you; it's about discovering new layers of wonderfulness in your life right now.

While the Thanksgiving holiday is an appropriate time to express gratitude, there's never a wrong time to take stock of the different aspects of our lives that we have to be thankful for.

When taking time to contemplate those things we are grateful for, most people list family, health, faith, etc., but don't forget to take notice of some of the "small" things as well that make you happy or give you pleasure. Consider changing "I'm thankful for my spouse" to "I'm thankful my spouse makes me laugh every day." And, instead of "I'm thankful for my kids," change it to "I'm thankful for how happy I feel when I get home from work and my kids rush to the door to greet me." It's these different layers of gratitude that may go unnoticed if we don't take the time to truly reflect.

All of us here at Warden's would like to express our collective gratitude to you. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve your office needs - whether furniture, supplies, or relocation.

We wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Filing Cabinets or Storage Boxes?

Wardens Office - Thursday, November 01, 2012
Questions facing all offices:

Do I purchase another file cabinet or can I get by with buying just a few storage boxes?

The correct solution will be different for each office.  As the New Year approaches, now would be a good time to evaluate what your current and future anticipated storage needs might be.  While filing and storage requirements can vary greatly from one company to another, the “Basics” are still the same.

Review your current situation – Take into account valuable real estate or floor space when considering new file cabinets, since there is a huge difference in filing inch efficiency when comparing lateral files (most efficient) to vertical files (less efficient). Contact one of our filing & furniture experts today for a free, no-obligation evaluation to help you choose the correct file cabinet for your storage solution challenges.

Your temporary or archival storage area should be reviewed as well. Most storage boxes can be re-used and/or recycled. Storage boxes are available in a wide variety of sizes to help accommodate even the most difficult challenges. You may opt to even minimize or reduce your amount of necessary archival storage with new scanning technology, allowing archival retrieval at your computer fingertips.

For a full selection of available storage boxes, check out our website.

Filing Cabinets? Storage Boxes? Scan Technology?

Whatever your decision, aim for a more organized office and clutter free environment in 2013!
